The Cotswold Line Promotion Group co-ordinated a series of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the railway line between Evesham and Oxford, which occurred on 4th June 1853.

The railway stations at HONEYBOURNE, MORETON-in-MARSH, SHIPTON, ASCOTT-under-WYCHWOOD, CHARLBURY and HANBOROUGH were all opened on 4th June 1853, on the same day that through services started between Worcester (Shrub Hill) and Oxford.

Both the operators of train services over the line at the time (Thames Trains and First Great Western) took part in the celebrations as did various local societies along the line which organised events with a railway theme.

The programme approved by the Cotswold Line Promotion Group as "Cotswold Line 150 Events" in connection with the 150th Anniversary of the Cotswold Line during 2003 has now been completed.
